An application created by the students of the FH Kufstein Tirol is intended to make the communication between the 3CON employees easier and more efficient.
At the end of 2019, the project team from the degree programme 'Web Business & Technology' was assigned with the task of integrating a new application to report tickets in the company internal ERP system, 3CONnect, for the 3CON Anlagenbau GmbH: the 3CONnect-ticketing. Ticketing is the reporting of errors, requests, etc. in the form of so-called “tickets” that can then be processed by the applicable department. The objective of the project was to make the current ticketing system that was already in use available to all globally active 3CONnect users. This requirement was fulfilled by integrating the GitLab-API and based on a web-based application that is established on the web framework “Angular”. The new components in 3CONnect help to simplify the communication between the developers of the department and the employees of the company and to depict this as a complete digital process. The project team from the degree programme of the FH Kufstein Tirol, consisting of Axel Basset, Dennis Cetin, Julian Eisenmann, Maximilian Koch, Julian Loferer, Sabrina Mitternöckler, Benedikt Oltersdorf, Nina Pfister and Julian Seemann, successfully implemented this challenging task on behalf of 3CON Anlagenbau GmbH and was accompanied by the lecturer, professor (FH) Karsten Böhm.
For the kick-off meeting, the students of the FH Kufstein Tirol drove to Ebbs to discuss the project with the client and to gain insight into the work process of the company. The objective of the intern project was to implement the report in 3CONnect and to expand this system. The project team first familiarised themselves with the system and then focussed on research regarding “Angular” and “Express”. Only through meticulous preparation were they able to develop an application that could simplify the communication between the employees and developers of the company in the future.
The FH Kufstein Tirol students drove to Ebbs again on 28. January 2020 to hand over and present the completed project result that was received with great enthusiasm by the company. The course lecturer, Professor (FH) Karsten Böhm, accompanied the students not only for the presentation of the project results but he also provided support throughout the entire semester.
According to Prof. (FH) Karsten Böhm, who also headed the bachelor degree programme, as a result of this project, the actual impacts of digitalisation will become apparent. He explains: “The success of digitalisation is shown through the gradual implementation of individual aspects that have a tangible added value for the company. In this project, it becomes apparent once again that the use of web-developers is in no way limited to IT-companies; on the contrary, it can also have a meaningful impact with innovative engineering companies.”
